Anchorage Community Development Authority Office Relocation - September 1, 2010
Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA) is pleased to announce relocation of its offices to the 5th Avenue garage at the corner of 5th & B Street.
ACDA currently conducts over 12,000 face to face parking transactions annually. The new offices are located on ground level which allows for easier and convenient access for the public when making these parking transactions.
To make access to its offices even more convenient, ACDA is providing free short-term customer parking in the 5th Avenue garage for its customers. "Relocating ACDA will establish a local presence in downtown Anchorage which will enable us to better meet our customer needs by providing greater access," says Ron Pollock, Executive Director of ACDA. "In addition, for the first time in the past 26 years, the entire ACDA staff will be centrally located in one facility."
ACDA will close their office on September 23rd & 24th for the office move and will reopen on September 27, 2010.
ACDA's office hours remain the same: 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. The main phone number will remain the same: 276-7275 (PARK). ACDA's new address will be:

New Parking Technology On-Street
New Parking Technology On-Street - September 1, 2010
As part of its goal to increase the ease and flexibilty for consumers to access downtown parking, Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA) is conducting 2 pilot programs beginning in September.
In the first pilot program, ACDA is installing two Parkeon multi-space parking meters on the north side of 4th Avenue, between I Street and L Street. These two meters replace 18 single space meters. The main public benefit is the flexiblity of payment options. Once installed, the Parkeon pay stations will accept coins, credit and debit cards.
In the second pilot program, scheduled for installation later in Setpember, ACDA will install 50 single space meter mechanisms which also accept coins, credit and debit cards.
Using wireless communication technology in both pilot programs, ACDA will be notified immediatelly when a mechanism needs to be serviced. Having access to current data regarding parking space usage also provides ACDA with information that can be evaluated for future parking needs.
In addition, implementing this new technology allows ACDA to reduce its carbon footprint by using solar power versus traditional infracstructure construction, as well as reducing electrical costs into the future.
"These two pilot programs demonstarte our commitment to the parking public and downtown business owners, says Rick Onstott, Parking Director of ACDA." "We are interested in reliable equipment that produces receipts, accepts multiple forms of payment and helps generate the parking space turnover required to provide access to local businesses."

EasyPass Provides Hands Free Garage Access - April 27, 2010
EasyPass Provides Hands Free Garage Access - April 27, 2010
Anchorage Community Development Authority recently installed EasyPass in the JC Penney parking garage earlier this year. The 6th & 7th Avenue parking garages also have EasyPass access. For a mere $10 extra a month, 6th & 7th Avenue garage parkers will now have dual access to these facilities.
The traditional garage card requires parkers to stop, roll down their window, wave their garage card, roll their window up, and then finally drive through once the gate has gone up. The EasyPass system lets vehicles flow quickly through the gates and controlled entrances / exits. Hands free access also minimizes driver distractions and provides convenient access for the disabled.
During the months of April - May 2010, ACDA will be offering to their current garage permit holders the opportunity to try out EasyPass for free. All we ask in return, is your testimonial.
If you would like to try EasyPass for free, call Customer Service at 276-PARK (7275).

EasyPass is a garage card that has been mounted on a vehicle's windshield. This card is embedded with a microchip that activates the entry/exit gates in the garages. No need to roll down the window and wave a card in front of a card reader!
The premium options at the 6th and 7th Avenue Garages give the EasyPass holder the option of parking in an alternate garage. 6th Avenue Garage premium customers may park now in the JC Penney Garage and 7th Avenue premium customers can now park in the 6th Avenue Garage. This option has been designed as a convenience for our customers on rare days when surges in parking result in the inability to find an open parking space in the assigned garage.
